    seeking justice, loving mercy

    hi, i'm Pam.

    and i'm an egalitarian.

i suppose it all started when i was in college. after i had led worship one night for an outreach event on our college campus, a brother came up to me and questioned me about leading worship. he had matter-of-factly stated that i was sinning because i was up there leading.

i asked him if he really thought i was sinning.

    he said yes.

    wow...amazing.

i suppose in this brother's eyes, i will have to repent for many years of sinning. repent from what? from leading worship, for preaching, for teaching,
for leading, for mentoring younger and older people in what it means to follow Christ's heart...nuts, that's a lot of stuff.

but really now... can a God of justice and mercy and love really think that His own creation of women is inferior to His creation of men. i.don't.think.so...at all.

the past weekend was an amazing affirmation of what some of us already know. God has given authority to both men and women alike, to preach good news to the poor, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor. He has given all of us authority to comfort all who mourn, to grant to those who mourn a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness- in order that the Lord may be glorified!

the Christians for Biblical Equality conference was reaffirming, empowering and inspiring. to read more about some of the workshops and sessions please visit searchingfortreasures' xanga site...or ask me about it.

seeking justice, loving mercy and walking humbly with our God...this is what He requires of us.
